Philips X7-2t xMatrix transoesophageal echocardiography transducer

The X7-2t is a Philips adult transoesophageal echo probe with a matrix array of 2,500 elements, used in cardiac theatres, cath labs and echo departments for 2D, Live xPlane and real-time 3D imaging of the heart. It plugs into compatible Philips cardiac ultrasound systems and is steered from a handle with a user-configurable button. Its distinctive feature is fully sampled 3D imaging from the oesophagus with PureWave crystal technology.

Safety

Safety warnings from the record.

  • Do not bend the shaft into a loop smaller than about 0.3 m across. Source
  • Never sterilise the probe by autoclave, UV, gamma, gas, steam or heat, as this causes severe damage. Source
  • Use only disinfectants Philips lists as compatible, at the right strength and immersion depth and time. Source
  • A bite guard should be used in every study to protect the shaft and patient. Source

Where this note comes from.

Not covered: No X7-2t user manual was found publicly, so the probe's temperature cut-out limits, system error messages and leakage current limits are not included. The probe's own 510(k) summary was not located; FDA recall records list several Philips ultrasound 510(k) numbers covering it. Tip dimensions come from a Philips training document hosted by a hospital and should be checked against current labelling.
