HAMILTON-C6 intensive care ventilator

The HAMILTON-C6 is a high-end ICU ventilator for adult, paediatric and neonatal patients, offering invasive, non-invasive and high-flow oxygen therapy in intensive care, emergency and recovery areas and for transfers within hospital. It has a detachable 17 inch touchscreen monitor separate from the ventilation unit, and an internal turbine so it needs no compressed air. It is known for closed-loop modes such as ASV and INTELLiVENT-ASV and direct control of a Hamilton humidifier and cuff pressure controller.

PCB defect on ESM board may cause start-up failure or Ambient State during use.

    FDA record
  • Z-2020-20242024-05-15

Ventilation may not restart after O2 enrichment, suction and a sensor error.

    FDA record
  • Z-1429-20232023-03-14

Software error could cause Safety Ventilation with adaptive modes and a connected humidifier or cuff controller.

    FDA record
  • Z-0267-20232022-09-22

Safety

Safety warnings from the record.

  • In Ambient State the patient breathes room air without support, so an alternative means of ventilation must always be at hand. Source
  • If ventilation does not restart after suction, hypoxia can follow; staff should know the four restart methods. Source
  • With older software, switching to an adaptive mode while the humidifier or cuff controller was connected could cause Safety Ventilation. Source
  • On power, technical or pneumatic failure, an ambient valve opens to allow spontaneous breathing. Source
