Safety

Safety warnings from the record.

  • A faulty S-ORC could allow 100% N2O to be dosed, giving a hypoxic mixture that could cause death. Source
  • Shutdown on battery can mean loss of ventilation; use a bag or the Perseus manual ventilation instructions. Source
  • A failed main power switch can stop both fresh gas delivery and the ventilator. Source

Not covered: Draeger's website and PDFs (product information, technical data and instructions for use) refused automated access, so ventilator ranges, battery time, weight, gas supply pressures and alarm messages are not included and errorCodes is empty. All facts come from the 2014 FDA summary and FDA recall records. A Perseus product page and IFU are publicly listed by Draeger and should be checked by the reviewer. MAUDE counts are reports, not failure rates. Recall text was read through openFDA because FDA recall pages returned errors at drafting time.
