Cochlear Nucleus Profile Plus series implant

The Nucleus Profile Plus (CI600 series) is Cochlear's cochlear implant receiver stimulator, offered with several electrode arrays and implanted by ENT surgeons for severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss, then fitted by audiologists with an external sound processor. Its distinguishing features are a 3.9 mm thin titanium body and a removable magnet cassette that is approved for 1.5 T and 3.0 T MRI with the magnet left in place.

Safety

Safety warnings from the record.

  • The implants are MR Conditional only within defined conditions; read the instructions for use and local MRI guidelines before scanning, since rules differ by country. Source
  • The magnet distorts head images at any field strength, so removal may be needed when the area of interest is near the implant. Source
  • Only Cochlear-approved compatible magnets should be fitted to the implant. Source
