What you'll be able to do

The job, done properly.

  • Explains the X-ray, CT, MR and ultrasound chains well enough to locate faults outside the scanner
  • Reads artefacts (rings, streaks, zipper, coil dropout, probe shadows) as evidence
  • Works safely in MR zones and radiation areas and keeps their safety systems effective
  • Controls imaging changes: protocols, firmware, disinfectants, power and HVAC
  • Escalates to vendors and medical physics with evidence

The story

BMEssentia Medical City Hospital, the Imaging Floor (X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound) and the Imaging Service Workshop (B1).

Dr Amira HaddadHead of Clinical Engineering · your mentor (a character in the track)
“When the image is wrong and the tube is fine, the cause is usually upstream in a setting or downstream in a calibration. Burnt-out lungs taught a whole department that AEC chambers are mapped room by room.”

Proof

Only evidence counts.

A step is done when there is evidence: a simulation score, a saved work document, a passed check or a signed observation. Opening a page never ticks anything.

  • Before and afterThe same baseline check on day one and in the final week, scored per competency.
  • Mastery, not attendanceBelow-threshold competencies route to their named remediation and a re-check.
  • The audit packYour weekly work documents and capstones, ready for a supervisor, an employer or an inspector.

The certificate

BMEssentia Certificate of Completion: Ready Technician, Imaging

It names the track and the level you completed. Your portfolio holds the work behind it.

  • All weeks' required items done
  • Final check at or above the level's pass mark
  • At least 6 of 8 branch competencies at mastery
  • Capstone graded 60 or above (core tracks) or every branch device signed off (clinical branches)
  • Institutions: supervisor or educator sign-off; individuals: self-assessed with evidence, shown as such

Imaging first-line support pack for one modality

For one modality in your hospital, write and test the first-line support pack: checks within authorisation, the evidence the vendor needs, escalation routes, QA ownership, and a month's log of calls handled with it.

Evidence it gives: Documented first-line support and QA ownership for imaging equipment.

MR safety and RF environment audit

Audit your MR suite's engineering safety: zones, detectors and interlocks, door and cage, oxygen monitoring and quench indicators, labels, and the work-authorisation route; with MR physics.

Evidence it gives: An MR suite safety audit with actions (MR safety governance).

Imaging change-control check after an upgrade

Take one real imaging upgrade or change (software, protocol, disinfectant, power or HVAC) and build its verification: what could break, how to test it end to end, and the sign-off; run it.

Evidence it gives: Change verification for imaging systems before clinical use.

Three levels

Easy, Medium or Hard.

A baseline check on day one places you, or you choose. The competencies are the same at every level; the support and the pressure change.

Easy

Baseline under 50% · simulations at Foundation

Worked examples first, then guided practice. Simulations at Foundation difficulty with the coach on and marking as you go. Fewer cases per week (the extra and hard-only cases are hidden). Mastery thresholds 10 points lower.

Medium

Baseline 50% to 74% · simulations at Practitioner

Guided to independent: the standard track. Simulations at Practitioner difficulty, the coach hidden but available, the extra cases each week from the middle of the track, mastery thresholds as stated.

Hard

Baseline 75% and above · simulations at Expert

Independent and interleaved: every simulation at Expert difficulty, all extra and hard-only cases, stricter mastery thresholds (+5), and time pressure.

  • Yes. An organisation's licence includes every track, core and branch, with the Platform, Medical City, Essentia, the App and the dashboard. Your organisation enrols you on the track, and it appears under My track; there is nothing extra to buy.
