ISO 23500

ISO 23500: water and fluids for haemodialysis

In plain words

What it covers.

The series that sets the quality of water for dialysis, concentrates and dialysis fluid, and how the water treatment system is validated and monitored. It sets chemical limits (for example total chlorine at most 0.1 mg/L, tested at the loop outlet), microbiological limits for bacteria and endotoxin, and the monitoring frequency. A dialysis patient is exposed to hundreds of litres of water a week across a membrane, so the water plant is half of the therapy.
