Philips BrightView SPECT

BrightView is a Philips dual-detector gamma camera for SPECT and planar nuclear medicine, built on an open ring gantry with a large bore. It is used for cardiac, bone, renal and other single-photon studies, and the XCT variant adds a flat-panel CT for attenuation correction and localisation. Its distinctive points are the 9-axis ring gantry, automatic body contouring with BodyGuard sensing, and a cart-based collimator exchanger.

Safety

Safety warnings from the record.

  • A falling detector below the gantry centre could cause abrasion, contusion, laceration or fracture of a patient's lower limbs. Source
  • Pre-programmed motion during an extrinsic QA scan could open a gap between the patient support and detector, a limb entrapment risk. Source
  • A collimator can drop to the floor if the exchange cart and detectors are misaligned. Keep the area beside the cart clear during exchanges. Source
  • Gaps between the two parts of the patient table can pinch skin or fingers. Source

Not covered: Philips no longer hosts a BrightView product page or datasheet, and no public operator or service manual or error code list was found. Specifications come from the 2006 510(k) summary for the Apollo system that FDA recall records cite for BrightView, so crystal thickness and current configuration details should be checked.
