Masimo Rad-8 Signal Extraction pulse oximeter
The Masimo Rad-8 is a compact mains and battery powered bedside pulse oximeter that continuously monitors SpO2, pulse rate and perfusion index in wards, recovery, neonatal units and home care. It uses Masimo SET signal extraction, designed to keep readings reliable during patient motion and low perfusion, and its internal battery runs it for up to 7 hours.

Safety
Safety warnings from the record.
- Raised carboxyhaemoglobin or methaemoglobin makes SpO2 inaccurate; high COHb can coexist with a normal looking SpO2, so use co-oximetry when suspected. Source
- Not an apnoea monitor and not a substitute for ECG arrhythmia analysis. Source
- Do not use during MRI; induced currents may cause burns. Source
- Do not open the instrument because of electric shock risk; refer repairs to Masimo. Source
- Unexpected power off removes monitoring without warning, which was the hazard behind the 2013 recall. Source
