Natus Xltek Protektor32 IOM System

The Xltek Protektor32 is an intraoperative neuromonitoring system that records EEG, evoked potentials and EMG and delivers transcranial motor evoked potential stimulation, run by Natus EPWorks software. It is built for spinal and neurosurgical cases, comes in laptop or cart configurations, and supports remote monitoring of several cases from one networked PC.

Safety

Safety warnings from the record.

  • The TcMEP mode is meant to detect acute corticospinal conduction problems from mechanical trauma or poor blood supply during surgery, and only staff trained in EEG, EP and EMG should interpret it. Source
  • Transcranial stimulation reaches 1000 V and 1500 mA, so settings and electrode sites must follow the user manual. Source

Not covered: The datasheet is a 2014 Natus document hosted on a third party CDN, not natus.com; specs should be checked against the current manual. The user and service manual was only found on a reseller site that blocked access, so no error codes, part numbers or calibration steps are included. The public 510(k) PDF is a poor scan with no readable technical summary. MAUDE counts are very small.
