Laborie Aquarius urodynamics family

The Laborie Aquarius family are cart or laptop based urodynamics systems used in urology and urogynaecology clinics for uroflowmetry, cystometry, pressure flow studies, urethral pressure profiles, anorectal manometry and, on the XT and CT, video urodynamics. They combine an infusion pump, pressure transducers, a spinning disc uroflowmeter and EMG, with many components linked wirelessly over Bluetooth to a PC running Laborie UDS software.

Safety

Safety warnings from the record.

  • Only Laborie trained technicians may service the system, and only Laborie approved equipment should be plugged into its multiple socket outlets. Source
  • Lock all wheels during studies, and take care raising the PC and monitor from the lowest position because the spring loaded mount can jump upwards. Source
  • Keep fingers out of the pump head while the rollers move. Source
  • Do not record EMG near HF surgical equipment, and do not use the system near an MRI scanner. Source
  • Connect only to an earthed mains supply to avoid electric shock; single use consumables must not be reused. Source
  • Long video capture can make the back of the all in one PC hot. Source

Not covered: No FDA recall or MAUDE report names the Aquarius (Aquarius hits belong to Edwards, Haemotronics and other firms, and Laborie recalls cover other products), so common failing parts cannot be sourced; manual guidance is translated from the German V14.00 edition and should be checked against the current English owner's and service manuals.
