HEINE BETA 200 Direct Ophthalmoscope

The BETA 200 is a hand held direct ophthalmoscope head that fits HEINE BETA battery or rechargeable handles. It uses aspheric optics with a lens wheel for focusing, an aperture wheel and a separate red free filter that can be combined with any aperture. Older units use a 2.5 V or 3.5 V XHL xenon halogen bulb; current units use an LED, and a 200S variant has finer one dioptre steps.

Where this note comes from.

Not covered: Ophthalmoscopes are Class I exempt in the US, so no 510(k) summary applies, and openFDA has no HEINE recalls and only a handful of MAUDE reports. The instructions used are an older XHL edition (med 5996, 2010) hosted by a retailer; the LED version's current IFU and reprocessing document were not opened.
