Model note · CT Scanner

GE Revolution CT and Revolution Apex family

The Revolution CT is a GE wide detector CT family. Its 160 mm, 256 row detector images whole organs such as the brain, heart or liver in one rotation, and the 2021 clearance added a fastest rotation of 0.23 s. Options include spectral imaging (GSI) with different kV levels from one source in one rotation, for example kidney stone characterisation, and the SmartStep interventional option. Its field record is a useful map of what goes wrong on large CT: collimator blades not homing (dose off), the cradle descending on its own with large patients, coolant leaking onto the floor, table pinch guards missing, UPS wiring at install, and software showing wrong dose or table position in SmartStep.

Safety

Safety warnings from the record.

  • Collimator homing faults can change delivered dose; run dose QC after collimator service. Source
  • Certain settings produced smudge or head scan artefacts that could look like pathology (2015 and 2020). Source
  • A 2026 notice covered a security vulnerability in AW Server delivered through Edison Health Link with CT Smart Subscription. Source
