GE HealthCare Lunar iDXA
The Lunar iDXA is GE's full size dual energy X-ray absorptiometry scanner for bone mineral density and whole body composition, cleared in 2005 as a higher resolution successor to the Prodigy for larger patients. A narrow angle fan beam and a 64 channel detector scan the patient on a table that holds up to 204 kg, and the enCORE software on a standard PC drives the scanner, runs daily QA with a calibration block and calculates BMD, body composition, visceral fat and fracture risk outputs.

Recalls
Known FDA recalls.
- Z-1709-20202019-12-03
Control panel fault could stop the start button releasing and contribute to accidental radiation (also Z-1710 to Z-1712-2020 for iDXA with enCORE v16 to v18).
FDA record - Z-0600-20102009-02-01
enCORE 12.0 to 13.1 did not properly pre indicate technique factors before a patient scan.

Safety
Safety warnings from the record.
- Use the red emergency stop on the scanner arm to halt motion and X-rays in an emergency, but not as a routine way to stop scans. Source
- Do not look into the class 2 positioning laser and keep its aperture under the arm away from the patient's eyes. Source
- Check pregnancy status with the referring doctor before scanning anyone who is or may be pregnant. Source
- Do not service electrical parts while the system is on, as high voltage is used to produce X-rays; do not generate X-rays from remote software. Source
- Wait 72 hours after a radiographic contrast study before scanning, as contrast can corrupt point typing. Source

Not covered: The only full manual reachable was GE's Norwegian enCORE v18 user manual, translated here; the English operator and pre-installation manuals and GE spec sheets on gehealthcare.com could not be opened. The service manual is not public, so there are no internal error code lists, part numbers beyond the tube head, or calibration tolerances. The manufacturerUrl is GE's bone and metabolic health page, which mentions the Lunar line but did not render a separate iDXA product entry. openFDA MAUDE returned no reports filed under an iDXA brand name, so no trend is given. Newer GE documents may state a different table limit; this note uses the 204 kg in the v18 manual.
